(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) – IT security solutions provider Comodo (www.comodo.com) announced on Thursday it is providing digital SSL certificates to the New York State Lottery (www.nylottery.org) to secure its online transactions.
In February, Hewlett-Packard began providing a free Comodo multi-domain digital certificate with each of its new MediaSmart Server.
Comodo’s digital certificates will allow New York State Lottery to encrypt the information transmitted over the Internet through the use of an algorithm to scramble messages so that only the intended recipient can read it.
According to the press release, the New York Lottery “continues to be North America’s largest and most profitable lottery, earning over $34.2 billion in education support statewide since its founding over 40 years ago.”
“Comodo is proud to secure the New York State Lottery’s online communications,” says Melih Abdulhayoglu, CEO and chief security architect for Comodo. “With their choice, the New York Lottery is the winner. Comodo certificates will secure the Lottery’s communications so that it can continue to raise billions of dollars a year for education in New York State.”
The IT security solutions firm provides the infrastructure that enables e-merchants, other Internet-connected companies, software companies, and individual consumers to interact and conduct business via the Internet safely and securely.
Comodo provides a range of security solutions, including PKI SSL, code signing, content verification and email certificates, PC security software, vulnerability scanning services for PCI Compliance, secure email and fax services.
