(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Security and trust company Comodo (www.comodo.com) announced this week that its Comodo Internet Security product has earned the VB 100 certification, based on the ability of the product to recognize malware as it is intended.

The VB 100 certification is a security product certification issued by the Virus Bulletin publication. Conducted monthly, the VB 100 test allows those products to display the certification seal if they deflect 100 percent of malware currently listed as “in the wild,” while displaying no false positives, using an out-of-the-box configuration.

Full details, archives and much more information on Virus Bulletin’s VB 100 certification is available from the publication’s website.

While the Internet Security product isn’t a particularly web-hosting-focused product, the VB 100 certification is an official vote of confidence for the practices of a company that came under fire after security breaches at several of its resellers led to the issuing of several rogue SSL certificates to a hacker.

And, though Internet Security isn’t on the menu for participants in the company’s reseller program for web hosts, several of the company’s other malware scanning products are – including its HackerProof vulnerability scanning.

“We are proud of this prestigious award to add to our growing list of awards that Comodo Internet Security has been recognized with and is the result of a team effort,” said Melih Abdulhayoglu, Comodo CEO and chief security architect, quoted in the announcement.

Comodo’s Internet Security product is antivirus software that protects users against viruses, malware and a range of other Internet threats, available in a free version, and upgradable to a paid “pro” version. More details on the product, including a link to the free antivirus software download, is available on the Comodo website.
