Comodo Acquires Privacy Software

April 2, 2007 — (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — IT security solution provider Comodo (comodo.com) announced on Monday it has acquired the assets of anti-virus security technology provider Privacy Software Corporation (privsoft.com), including the solutions NSClean, IEClean, BOClean and FileVac.

With this acquisition, Comodo further builds its threat management solution portfolio, which began with firewall technology and has continued with recent moves into anti-spyware, anti-virus and anti-spam technology. Comodo will continue to market the former PSC solutions as standalone offerings as well as incorporate these products into Comodo’s desktop security solution suite.

“This acquisition supports Comodo’s strategy to create a best-in-class desktop security suite, and we are delighted to add to our business Kevin McAleavey’s expertise and PSC’s products, with their well-earned reputation for quality and independence,” says Melih Abdulhayoglu, president and CEO of Comodo. “We intend to provide PSC with the resources to continually improve the quality of Comodo solutions. Kevin’s extensive depth in detection technologies will bring a new level of protection to users and increase Comodo’s current momentum towards becoming the dominant leader in the desktop security segment.”

The company says the acquisition reinforces its commitment to provide an integrated approach to desktop security through technologies that develop comprehensive white lists coupled with superior approaches for malware detection.

Comodo also recently announced that it is offering Unified Communications certificates for Microsoft Exchange Server 2007.
