(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) – Communications software developer 4PSA (www.4psa.com) announced on Monday that it is the fifth anniversary of its flagship Unified Communications solution, VoipNow.

This announcement coincides with a new study by Pew Internet that finds 24 percent of American adult internet users have placed a phone call online.

This anniversary comes almost three months after the company released its VoipNow Cloud Instance for deployment of Unified Communications based on flexible services.

According to the press release, VoipNow was first released on May 30, 2006 and was the first VoIP platform designed specifically for small and medium service providers.

In a blog post, 4PSA CEO Bogdan Carstoiu says VoipNow initially faced lots of resistance since companies weren’t sure if they could trust the reliability or quality of the cloud. The company noticed a spike in interest in its VoipNow solution after the economic crisis since companies were looking to cut communication costs.

“They became more willing to try any solution that could have helped them aim their target,” Carstoiu writes in a blog post. “Once they tried VoipNow, they were able to see for themselves the other advantages of using Unified Communications and all of a sudden their initial objective, cost reduction, was no longer that important.”

4PSA says its first release of VoipNow included “impressively diverse functionality” including call routing, call queues, dynamic conferencing, voicemail, call recording, call transfers, call waiting, call forwarding and call filtering.

“These past five years have been really exciting. We are honored that VoipNow has become a leading choice for service providers that want to deliver Unified Communications to businesses on a cloud based environment,” Carstoiu said in a statement.

4PSA says the current version VoipNow 2.5.2 includes a new provisioning system and integration with many cloud services including Amazon EC2. VoipNow also provides instant messaging, faxing, business and operations automation.

“We have made it our goal to constantly improve our solution to address the  real needs of our customers,” Carstoiu added. “We will continue to raise the bar with the upcoming developments on the VoipNow Platform that will dramatically improve the way people communicate, work and have fun using the ‘infinite’ cloud resources.”
