(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Colocation provider Telx (www.telx.com) announced on Monday the successful completion of SSAE 16 compliance in 12 data centers.

Telx was acquired by ABRY Partners and Berkshire Partners at the beginning of August for an undisclosed amount.

According to the press release, the SSAE 16 certified data centers are located in New York City, Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas, Miami, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Phoenix and New Jersey. The data center in New Jersey has also achieved PCI compliance, according to the report.

Conducted by accounting firm Weaver and Tidwell, SSAE 16 replaces the previous data center industry standard, SAS 70. SSAE 16 focuses on procedures including physical and environmental security, problem management, technical support, customer ordering/service delivery, network equipment monitoring and organization and administration.

According to the press release, customers should find the report useful for understanding the controls performed by Telx that are relevant for compliance needs like HIPAA or PCI.

“Telx has a long history of investing in quality systems that provide rock-solid reliability for our colocation customers,” Eric Shepcaro, CEO of Telx said in a statement. “Completing our SSAE 16 examination demonstrates Telx’s further commitment to delivering the best security and service in the industry to our customers.”

Recently, Telx expanded its data centers in Dallas and New Jersey.
