Colocation Firm Interxion Opens Sixth Frankfurt Data Center

(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — European colocation provider Interxion (www.interxion.com) announced on Wednesday it has opened its sixth data center in Frankfurt, Germany.

The move follows the company’s announcement in March that it acquired a new green field site in Eastern Frankfurt that is able to accomodate a 15,000 square feet data center.

FRA 6 marks Interxion’s 28th data center, and features nearly 5,250 square feet of centrally located, equipped data space.

Located in Germany’s central data hub, the data center connects 200 of the 350 customers of DE-CIX, the Frankfurt-based German Internet exchange.

The new site provides secure and energy-efficient infrastructure for IT and connectivity solutions, offering the latest high-density power requirements, 2N UPS, N+1 generator backup and cooling, and advanced alarm and monitoring systems.

The facility also provides access to over 150 carriers/ISPs, dual-entry fiber and redundant connections between data centers.

“The completion of our sixth site in Frankfurt reflects the continuing demand for high-quality data centres and reinforces our position as Germany’s central data hub,” says Peter Knapp, managing director of Interxion Germany. “We are particularly proud of the fact that we can offer additional data centre capacity, allowing companies to effectively run their mission-critical ICT infrastructure and directly peer with over 150 carriers and ISPs colocated at our Frankfurt campus.”

Interxion provides carrier-neutral colocation data center services in Europe to over 1,100 customers from its 28 data centers in 11 European countries.

The company has already opening an 8,054-square-feet data center in Dublin, as well as expanded its Amsterdam AMS 5 facility by 12,000 square feet.
