(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Colocation provider CoSentry announced this week it has launched its new cloud service, CoSentry Metro Cloud.
The service is built on the company’s new-generation, PCI-certified cloud platform, which integrates a fiber build from CenturyLink.
“Often, client-led innovation is the most meaningful because you create solutions for a precise problem,” said CoSentry CEO Mike Steffan. “That’s what the Metro Cloud is about, clients asking us to provide a fully-integrated cloud solution that provides all networking, processing and storage elements in one convenient, managed service. And with the expansion of the CenturyLink network into all of our data centers, it becomes affordable for any size client across a wide geography.”
The service combines robust local access links, web and application servers, storage and backup services, Internet access and 24-hour help desk support into an affordable service.
The service was developed after the company ran a series of client forums on the use of cloud services. By unifying large platforms and consolidated billing, CoSentry is able to deliver more affordable and faster services to businesses of all sizes and types.
CoSentry is currently offering the Metro Cloud service in Omaha, Nebraska and will expand to other regions by the end of the year.
In a separate announcement, CoSentry said it will be investing about $30 million to build and outfit a 60,000-square-foot data center in Lenexa, Kansas, according to Kansas City Business Journal.
A portion of the data center will support a call center and technical help desk to help facilitate CoSentry’s managed services, colocation and cloud computing services.
CoSentry said it will invest $20 million on the initial construction of the data center, as well as another $10 million on equipment to outfit the data center. The company expects that revenue from the facility will surpass that of its existing data centers in Nebraska and Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
The data center, which will begin construction on February 1, is expected to create 60 new jobs.
