Colo5 Completes SAS 70 Type I Audit for Data Center

(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Data center operator Colo5 (www.colo5.com) announced on Thursday it has successfully completed its first Statement on Auditing Standards 70 Type I audit.

The SAS 70 audit was conducted by independent accounting and consulting firm Richter & Company, which evaluated the company’s internal operational controls and processes from July through September 2009.

As the primary auditing standard employed by service organizations, the SAS 70 audit demonstrates a company’s internal controls and security practices to their customers.

The audit examines a company’s infrastructure, network security, physical security, computer operations, and environmental security.

Successfully completing a SAS 70 audit demonstrates that a service company has established the highest standard of controls over its internal processes and procedures.

“We are pleased to have completed the SAS 70 audit successfully. Our customers depend upon us to deliver uncompromising reliability and the highest quality operations,” says Doug Recker, Colo5′s CEO. “Our customers have confidence in our services and this certification validates our strong value proposition. We place great emphasis on doing things the right way; having our data operations and controls certified independently by a third party validates that premise.”

Developed by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the SAS 70 report proves that a data center has an effective internal control environment to host and protect clients’ sensitive data.

Web hosting providers Opus Interactive and Pacific Software Publishing also completed their SAS 70 Audits earlier this year.

Colo5 says it will also announce other exacting certifications in the near future, which will help the company meet the demands of recently signed customers as well as future prospects.
