July 8, 2002 — (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Communication software and services provider Cogitive Inc. (Cogitive.com) announced on Monday that it has launched its VelociNET load-balancing, content acceleration, caching and optimization service.
VeliciNet, says Cogitive, is built on the company?s Cooperative Content Acceleration (CCA) technology, and can increase the perceived performance of Web servers by distributing and optimizing content across a global network of cooperating servers. CCA is transparent to site authors, says Cogitive, and does not require any changes to be made.
Cogitive says the VelociNET product is targeted toward small and medium-sized Web hosting firms, does not require the purchase or installation of any hardware or complex software and can be configured and running on a Web server in as few as five minutes.
