Cloud storage provider IceWEB announced that it has appointed industry veteran Rob Howe its new chief executive officer.

This is the second major appointment IceWEB has announced this year, following Steven Toole being named chief marketing officer.

Howe will replace Hal Compton, who served as IceWEB’s CEO on an interim basis following the sudden passing of IceWEB chairman and CEO John Signorello in May. Compton will remain as IceWEB’s chairman of the board.

Howe has more than 24 years of experience in the technology industry, serving in senior management roles at companies ranging from privately held startups to the largest technology corporations.

He most recently served as president and COO of McCusker & Company. He has also served as president of CompUSA, VP and GM of AT&T’s worldwide PC business, and senior vice president of Dell North America.

Howe is credited with the turnaround of Etelcharge.com as its former CEO.

As CEO of IceWEB, Howe will be based at IceWEB’s corporate headquarters location in Sterling, Virginia on a full time basis.

“Rob is an incredibly dynamic, and intelligent, business-savvy leader with the key ingredients to forge IceWEB’s success,” said Compton. “His consistent track record of success with technology companies provides overwhelming evidence as to his effectiveness in tackling each new challenge with the objectivity, leadership and skill required to achieve extremely positive results. On behalf of the IceWEB Board of Directors, we are extremely pleased to place Rob at the helm in the wake of John Signorello’s recent sudden passing.”

IceWEB manufactures high performance unified data storage appliances with enterprise storage management capabilities.

Earlier this year, IceWEB launched what it called the “IceTIME Guarantee” which assures a setup time of five minutes or less for any of its unified data storage appliances.
