(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Data center services provider Equinix (www.equinix.com) announced on Thursday that cloud platform provider Virtacore Systems (www.virtacore.com) will employ Platform Equinix to support its expanding customer base.

Equinix made several announcements in October, including closing a new $150 million revolving credit, revealing plans to build its third data center in Seattle and has launched its Equinix Marketplace as well for customers to connect with customers residing in racks within the International Business Exchange data centers.

According to the press release, as part of Equinix’s ecosystem of cloud and IT service providers, Virtacore will be able to securely interconnect with these partners in order to speed the deployment of its hybrid cloud services to enterprise customers.

Virtacore and Equinix participated in a roundtable discussion called “The Anatomy of Cloud Delivery – An Insider’s Look at How the Cloud is Deployed to the Enterprise” at HostingCon 2011. To read a recap on the presentation, go here.

Virtacore is currently located in Equinix International Business Exchange data centers in four strategic markets – Silicon Vally, Chicago, Los Angeles and Washington, DC. It is also the first customer to leverage Equinix Business Suites in its data center in Ashburn, Virginia. Virtacore says it plans to move into other Equinix IBX facilities worldwide.

Equinix says its Business Suites offering is ideal for cloud service providers like Virtacore that have multi-tier architecture requirements and require a larger footprint service delivery environment.

Virtacore says it selected Equinix to deliver its hybrid cloud services, including managed private cloud and public cloud, which are built on VMware’s vCloud Platform and managed through a single portal.

“We have been involved with Equinix for more than eight years. The expansion with Platform Equinix and the addition of Equinix Business Suites will enable us to reach new customers, grow faster, and help our organization and our customers to improve efficiencies,” George Naspo, Virtacore CEO said in a statement. “We are confident this expansion will allow us the flexibility to keep pace with the aggressive growth Virtacore has been experiencing in our cloud services this year.”

According to the press release, Virtacore recently opened a storefront in the Equinix Marketplace to promote and sell its hybrid cloud services.

“By leveraging Platform Equinix, Virtacore is able to quickly deploy its hybrid cloud services to serve its global customer base,” Charles Meyers, president of the Americas at Equinix stated. “The cloud services market has become one of the fastest growing ecosystems in our data centers and companies like Virtacore have benefited as Equinix customers look for partners who can help them quickly migrate to the cloud while assuring the highest security and performance.”
