Cloud management provider ScienceLogic announced on Monday that it has raised $15 million in Series B funding led by Intel Capital. ScienceLogic also announced that it has named John Becker as CEO, and previous CEO and company co-founder David Link will remain as chairman of the board.
Intel Capital is joined by previous investor New Enterprise Associates in this round, bringing ScienceLogic’s total financing to $30 million.
ScienceLogic says it will use the capital to fund global sales expansion, marketing and development of its technology. Used by service providers, corporations and governments, ScienceLogic says its technology helps improve IT operations efficiency and add new services across data center and cloud infrastructures.
Web hosting providers can use ScienceLogic to deliver “high-margin managed services and increase revenue per client,” according to its website. Its solution includes server, network, storage, virtualization, cloud, and application monitoring; fault and performance management; asset and configuration tracking; usage-based bandwidth billing; run book automation; and an IT ticket system. The new funding will help bolster the development of its technology, benefiting any service provider that already uses ScienceLogic, or may be a selling point for web hosts looking for something like ScienceLogic. Web hosts like Fasthost already work with ScienceLogic to improve service delivery across its managed hosting infrastructure.
Becker has more than 30 years of experience, according to the press release. He was previously CEO of Approva Corporation, where he led the company to acquisition by Lawson Software. He has also held CEO positions at Cybertrust, TruSecure Corp and AXNET Technologies.
“Both Intel Capital and NEA understand that as organizations move infrastructure and services to the cloud, it’s critical to have unified, dynamic management of IT service delivery across all computing and application resources used no matter where they reside,” Becker said in a statement. “This is an opportune time to join ScienceLogic with its continued growth and strong backing from NEA and new investor Intel Capital. We see this as confirmation of the strength of our platform and our superior approach to IT management in the 21st century. I’m honored to be leading this talented team during this dynamic time in the company’s history.”
“John has a tremendous track record of capitalizing on strategic market opportunities and leading his companies to prominence, so ScienceLogic is fortunate to have attracted someone of his caliber at this stage of our development,” sLink stated. “I’m looking forward to working closely with him on our long-term vision to take the company to the next level of growth and profitability.”
