Cloud Computing World Series Awards Announces Short List

(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — The Cloud Computing World Forum has announced the shortlist of entrants for its Cloud Computing World Series Awards 2010, which take place in London on June 29.

The 10 Cloud Computing World Series Awards will be presented at the Olympia Conference Centre on the evening of June 29. According to show director Mark Johnstone, the quality of this year’s entries was extremely high, making it all the more difficult to arrive at a shortlist. “We are delighted with the number of organisations entering the awards this year,” he said in a statement. “The quantity and quality of entries has been extremely high which can only be very positive for the future of business computing.”

Sponsored by the Cloud Computing World Forum, the Cloud Computing World Series Awards is designed to showcase the full cloud computing supply chain including vendors from leading suppliers, integrators and end-users offering a full view of the Cloud Computing and SaaS marketplaces.

Hosting service provider software developer Cloud Linux (www.cloudlinux.com) was among the finalists in the 2010 Cloud Computing World Series Awards. Cloud Linux is featured in the “Best Start-Up” category, which recognizes companies founded after January 2009 and provide a cloud-based product or service in the cloud computing and Software as a Service market. CloudLinux is a commercially supported operating system that helps increase server density, stability and performance, to ultimately reduce operating costs and increase profit.

“We are honored that Cloud Linux has been nominated as a finalist in the ‘Best Start-Up’ category,” Cloud Linux CEO and Founder Igor Seletskiy stated. “CloudLinux was designed to be a simple and elegant solution that helps companies improve server efficiency, density and performance so they can take advantage of Cloud-based services. We know the competitive field is tough, so making it to the final round is very exciting for our eight month old company.”

Database security software developer Sentrigo (www.sentrigo.com) was named a finalist in the “Best Security Solution” category, recognizing companies that help customers mitigate risk and improve their overall security and compliance posture. Sentrigo’s Hedgehog Enterprise database activity monitoring and intrusion prevention solution, is able to work well in the dynamic, distributed environment of the cloud, owing to the autonomous nature of its sensor technology.

“This industry-wide recognition is further validation that our software only, host-based solution provides enterprises with the best-in-breed real-time database monitoring, auditing and breach prevention currently available on the market,” Sentrigo marketing vice president Andy Feit said in a statement. “If an organization is considering adopting a cloud computing architecture, Hedgehog Enterprise is crucial for meeting regulatory compliance requirements as well as ensuring that sensitive data is secured and database attacks are prevented. Within a matter of minutes, the software can be provisioned and fully functional, providing peace of mind in minimal time.”

New technology providers such as Cloud Linux, and older ones such as Sentrigo, are likely to play a key role in cloud deployments, which are expected to grow significantly over the next year and beyond.
