(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Verizon Business (www.verizonbusiness.com) has achieved data center unified computing Authorized Technology Provider status from networking technology provider Cisco Systems (www.cisco.com), making it the first US-based communications solutions provider to receive the designation.
According to Verizon’s Tuesday announcement, Cisco awarded Verizon Business the designation for its strength in providing the expertise and skills required to successfully deploy the Cisco Unified Computing System, which unites network, computational, storage access and virtualization resources into a single, energy-efficient system, helping businesses reduce costs and untangle complex IT environments.
“The Cisco Unified Computing System will complement Verizon’s data center strategy by enhancing our ability to deliver holistic and innovative data center solutions to enterprise customers, whether premises- or network-based,” Verizon global managed solutions vice president Mike Marcellin said in a statement. “We are empowering customers to take advantage of this next-generation data center platform, which is economical and efficient, while providing a whole new level of functionality.”
To be given the Cisco ATP designation, Verizon was evaluated for its expertise in data center networking infrastructure and data center storage networking, and its knowledge and ability to deploy products from HP, VMware, EMC and other technologies.
Verizon was also recently awarded Cisco’s Channel Partner of the Year award for the fifth time. Verizon also holds ATP certifications across multiple product areas including Cisco TelePresence, Internet Protocol Interoperability and Collaboration Systems, and Unified Contact Center Enterprise.
Cisco worldwide channels “go-to-market group” director John Growdon said the ATP designation makes Verizon a member of an elite number of industry leaders working to stimulate technology innovation, service delivery and market adoption of unified computing, which can help large enterprises improve their scalability and unify their computing capabilities into their key business processes.
“Taking advantage of an architectural shift in the data center, Cisco’s new Unified Service Delivery approach can help customers transform the data center into a dynamic IT environment with the power to increase productivity, improve efficiency and drive virtualization to an entirely new level,” Growdon said in a statement.
