(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Cisco (www.cisco.com) announced on Friday via its partner blog it is ending a long term channel partnership with HP (www.hp.com).
In a blog post on Cisco’s partner website, Keith Goodwin, SVP of worldwide partner organization said the company’s ongoing relationship with HP had shifted from a partnership to having opposing visions.
The companies will officially part ways on April 30, at which point HP will no longer be able to access Cisco product road maps or receive other Cisco marketing incentives.
In a YouTube video included with the blog post, Goodwin said: “Given the evolution of our relationship it simply no longer makes sense to provide these benefits to HP. With this in mind we recently notified HP that we will not renew its System Integrator contract when it expires on April 30, 2010, resulting in HP no longer being a Cisco Certified Channel or Global Service Alliance partner.”
The demise of the partnership comes as no surprise as Cisco revealed its Unified Computing System last March, which placed it in direct competition against HP in the server market.
HP announced in November it was acquiring networking firm 3COM and both companies have signed partnership deals to boost their portfolio of data center offerings.
