(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Colocation provider and data center operator Telx (www.telx.com) announced on Tuesday that telecommunications provider Cima Telecom Group (www.cimatelecom.com) has chosen to consolidate its data centers in Telx’s Miami facility at 36 Northeast 2nd Street.
The announcement follows Telx’s previous customer win last month, when brokerage firm Advantage Futures expanded its network footprint by 100 percent in Telx’s 350 East Cermak Street facility in downtown Chicago.
Cima Telecom is a telecommunications firm that provides voice-over IP and WiFi/WiMAX services and pre-paid calling card services to wholesale carriers and enterprises.
The company is cross-connected within Telx’s 36 Northeast 2nd Street and an optical Ethernet ring, which is provided within the same facility.
According to the press release, Telx offers strong connectivity to the Latin American business community, giving customers access to a range of international and domestic carriers and all major cable landing stations.
The facility also offers low latency connectivity to NAP of the Americas through a metro Ethernet ring.
The category 5-rated hurricane building is also located outside both the Federal Emergency Management Agency 100-year designated flood zone and the Miami-Dade hurricane evacuation zone.
“Cima is a strong player in the international VoIP market and we’re pleased to have them represented within our facility,” says William Kolman, executive vice president of sales for Telx. “The choice to consolidate within our Miami facility allows a wider variety of interconnection options to networks colocated both in NAP of the Americas Miami as well as in our own facility, while giving Cima industry-leading implementation and support services that were critical to maintaining their business.”
