July 6, 2001 — (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Cielo Communications (cieloinc.com), an industry leader in fiber optics communications devices, announced today that they will be demonstrating a new technology that can deliver a cost-effective alternative for high-bandwidth applications. Cielo’s 10 Gbps 1.3 micron VCSEL will contribute to simplified system design and lowered interconnect costs for short- and intermediate-reach applications requiring bandwidths in excess of 10 Gbps.
The company calls the technology a “breakthrough,” and it followsannouncements made in late June for other products using Cielo’s 1.3 micronVCSEL technology, including a serial transponder and parallel array. VCSELproducts are said to be high-performance, low-power, and comparativelylow-cost solutions for optical networking applications.
