August 29, 2007 — (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — National Christian organization Church of God Ministries (chog.org) announced on Tuesday it has launched CHOG WEBhosting (choghosting.com), a new Web hosting program based on feedback from pastors and church members around the nation requesting reliable Web hosting services.
Prior to launching the service, Church of God Ministries was outsourcing its Web hosting needs to maintain its own multiple large sites containing more than 3,000 pages for its various divisions. When the Web host alerted them that it was selling out in 90 days, Church of God Ministries’ IT coordinator Tim Brault decided to implement a new solution and also offer it to the churches and ministries who had been inquiring about hosting services.
CHOG WEBhosting strives to enable churches, ministries, businesses and individuals to easily and effectively use the Internet for evangelistic purposes. The program offers affordable prices, no set-up costs, no required software installation and no licensing fees, as well as a number of features including blogs, podcasts, discussion forums, RSS news feeds, photo albums, streaming media and e-commerce.
“Many churches have used the services of a well-meaning volunteer to design and maintain their Web site,” says Brault. “This, however, has many times led to challenges in keeping Web sites up-to-date with fresh content for prospective church visitors. What we can now offer is a way for churches to easily maintain their own sites, without the need for a technology expert to do it for them.”
