August 23, 2001 — (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Choice One Communications (choiceonecom.com), an integrated
r

communications provider offering facilities-based voice and data
r

telecommunications services, web hosting, design and development to small
r

and medium-sized businesses, announced yesterday that it is now offering a
r

full suite of enhanced data features products.
r

r

The product set includes Network Address Translation, Firewall and Virtual
r

Private Network. These are all Choice One network-based services that will
r

provide SMBs with efficient, cost-effective solutions as opposed to
r

expensive and cumbersome hardware-based methods.
r

r

The new products are being piloted in Rochester, NY and Grand Rapids, MI.
r

r

The company plans to release the new products throughout its service area by
r

the end of this year. The EDF product set includes Virtual Private Network
r

services that allow businesses with multiple locations to securely connect
r

multiple locations for high-speed data transmission. The new product set
r

also includes Network Address Translation which enable computers to connect
r

simultaneously to the Internet without additional costs, as well as a
r

Firewall Security product that protects electronic files from network
r

intruders.
r

r

All of these products eliminate the need for businesses to purchase,
r

configure, and maintain their own equipment typically associated with these
r

applications. “This will revolutionize the way data services are delivered,”
r

said Kevin Stephens, senior vice president, marketing. “We’ve added a robust
r

suite of complementary data products to our already rich voice, DSL, T1, web
r

development and hosting offerings that will help our clients maximize their
r

productivity at considerable savings versus more expensive hardware
r

intensive solutions.”
r

r

“The Enhanced Data Features product set positions us as a full-service data
r

network provider for small and medium-sized businesses,” Stephens added.
r

“Historically, these were applications that only large corporations could
r

afford. By offering much more than the high-speed connectivity solution, we
r

not only create a tremendous competitive advantage for Choice One in the
r

marketplace, but also position our clients to better compete against larger
r

businesses.”
r

r

Choice One currently offers services in eleven Northeast and Midwest states.
