CFL Picks Peer 1 Web Hosting

February 8, 2006 — (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Web hosting provider Peer 1 Network (Peer1.com) announced on Tuesday that it has signed a hosting agreement with the Canadian Football League. Peer 1 will ensure that the League’s official Web sites, cfl.ca and lcf.ca, are continually accessible to its visitors and are capable of handling high volumes of traffic.

The CFL requires a strong network throughout the year, from kicking off the regular season in April all the way to the Grey Cup championships in November. Web traffic during last year’s Grey Cup in Vancouver, British Columbia increased 74 percent over the average daily traffic numbers experienced throughout the year’s regular season.

The CFL says 3,845,205 viewers visited its English Web site in 2005, marking a 14 percent increase over 2004. To ensure CFL.ca was able to withstand the increased traffic the CFL has placed its servers in Peer 1′s Toronto data center, which is connected to the Peer 1 Internet network.

“It is great to be working with the Canadian Football League,” says Lance Tracey, president and CEO of Peer 1. “Peer 1 understands the need for fast and always accessible information, with 100 percent uptime to ensure that web sites never go down. We are happy to be part of the solution serving Canada’s avid football fans.”

Last week, Peer 1 announced that it had been selected to  provide Web hosting for Super Bowl ad voting Web site Spotbowl.
