Cenzic Launches Initiative to Defend Government From Online Attacks

(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — In light of recent cyber attacks against the US government, web application vulnerability assessment and risk management solutions provider Cenzic (www.cenzic.com) has launched a new cyber security initiative focused on defending the government web infrastructure.

According to its Monday announcement, Cenzic’s GovShield (www.govshield.com) will provide solutions that specifically help government agencies comply with federal regulations outlined by the Federal Information Security Management ACT and the National Institute of Standards and Technology. GovShield also includes special packages for government integrators who want to bring solutions closer to the end-users.

“Recent attacks against the US government’s web infrastructure have shown that hackers are not afraid to target an entire nation,” said Cenzic chief marketing officer Mandeep Khera said in a statement. “With President Obama’s new security initiatives making cyber security a top priority, government agencies are making strides in this area and we want to make sure Cenzic’s turnkey solutions help them achieve their goals quickly and efficiently.”

Cenzic already protects a number of key government agencies, making Cenzic’s new GovShield initiative a natural progression for many government agencies that wish to prevent themselves against online attacks.

The new program will be led by industry veteran David Kimball, whose experience includes more than two decades in online security, working alongside federal, state, and local government agencies. Based out of Washington D.C., Cenzic federal business unit managing director Kimball will be aggressively expanding his security team.

“It is an honor to work with a company such as Cenzic that shares a similar vision of ensuring the security of the most critical Web infrastructures in this nation,” Kimball said in a statement. “Current events have proven that we must be in a constant state of readiness when it comes to cyber security, which is impossible without solutions such as those provided by Cenzic.”

Cenzic demonstrated its ability to spot security flaws last year when Cenzic researchers discovered a vulnerability that placed webmail users at risk of having their login information stolen in May 2008. It then collaborated with Yahoo! in fixing the problem.
