Central Command Releases Antivirus Solution

September 17, 2003 — (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Central Command (centralcommand.com) announced yesterday the immediate availability of Vexira Antivirus for Linux, an antivirus defense system used to protect Linux-based servers.

The solution features configurable path protection, e-mail notification of viruses, options to repair, rename, or delete infected files, automatic Internet updating, virus scan archives, a command line scanner, scalable concurrent scanning, and heuristic detection of new macro viruses.

“By basing our Vexira Guard off the Dazuko kernel module, Vexira can successfully capture file access system calls and pass this information to a running Vexira Guard daemon for virus inspection,” said Keith Peer, president and CEO of Central Command. “”This process allows our resident virus scanner, Vexira Guard, to virus scan files as they are being saved, opened, closed or executed in real-time offering corporations a complete antivirus package for Linux servers.”

According to the company, Vexira is capable of protecting against more than 75,000 Windows, DOC, Linux, Macro, and Trojan horse applications.
