(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Colocation, virtualization and disaster recovery solutions provider Center 7 (www.c7dc.com) has completed its acquisition of colocation services provider Tier Four (www.tierfour.com), giving it the floor space needed to meet market demand in the Salt Lake City metropolitan area.
Following the acquisition of Tier Four, according to the company’s Tuesday announcement, Center 7 has also changed its name to C7 Data Centers, helping it brand itself as a colocation, managed hosting, business continuance and network business solutions leader in the US Intermountain West region, the area beginning at the the Rocky Mountains in the east, stretching west to the Cascades and Sierra Nevada.
“Our new company name – C7 Data Centers – accompanied by corporate re-branding will better represent the company, its success, growth, and goals,” C7 president and chief executive officer Nathan Hatch said in a statement. “Our environmentally friendly data centers will continue to provide customers the latest in virtualized dynamic computing, business continuance, data protection and monitoring technologies.
“While the name has changed, our customers and partners can be assured that we will continue to deliver the same reliable technology, service, and support that they’ve come to expect.”
Adding Tier Four’s data center locations to C7′s purpose-built facilities in Salt Lake City, according to C7, will create a suite of power, bandwidth, and cooling offerings for current and new customers at a range of price points. In addition to its four existing data centers, C7 plans to open more green data center facilities in the south portion of Salt Lake County and northern Utah.
Former Tier Four president Erich Pletsch said in a statement, “We at Tier Four are excited to join the C7 team to provide the industry’s best data center solutions…. The company has great opportunities for growth and expansion in the marketplace.”
C7 announced many new customers in 2008, including Philanthropic foundation support services provider Foundation Source (www.foundationsource.com), which moved its operations to C7′s newest and most advanced data center in September, a 10,500 square foot data center in Lindon, Utah that opened in May.
