(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) – CDN provider EdgeCast Networks (www.edgecast.com) announced on Wednesday the general availability of its Application Delivery Network, marking the end of a three month beta.
According to the press release, the beta cycle included internal testing and testing with more than 10 companies. During the beta, sites realized performance gains ranging from 40 percent to more than 250 percent, EdgeCast says.
EdgeCast Networks says its service is built upon the company’s global content delivery network and is a service that combines best practice optimizations with core technology refinements.
“The beta cycle of ADN surpassed even our optimistic expectations,” Ted Middleton, vice president of product management at EdgeCast Networks said in a statement. “Our customers were very enthusiastic about the performance gains – in fact, many beta participants have signed up as paying customers, some even switching from competitors who we consistently outperformed.”
EdgeCast Networks says that its Application Delivery Network includes customized information portals, e-commerce applications, social media services, and other online tools. This solution improves reliability and performance, which the company says translates to more completed transactions, more pageviews and more revenue.
