(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Content delivery network provider Limelight Networks (www.limelightnetworks.com) announced on Monday that it has launched its Arizona Internet Exchange located at i/o Data Centers’ Phoenix facility.

According to the press release, the company hopes to decrease the cost of streaming video in-state and regionally with this partnership. The Tier III data center has access to more than a dozen telecommunications carriers including AboveNet, AT&T, Level 3, Qwest, Verizon Business and Telia Sonera.

“Not only will the exchange decrease costs for providers locally and improve content delivery speeds, it will also help in fostering a community of content and access providers in the Arizona market,” Denver Maddux, vice president of network architecture at Limelight Networks said in a statement.

Limelight Networks says that by routing traffic through the new Arizona Internet Exchange, providers will have lowered transit costs and decrease latency by approximately ten to twenty milliseconds.

The company recently acquired cloud-based video publishing and analytics services firm Delve Networks.
