Verio Attracts Resellers with Free Month of VPS Hosting: Companies looking to boost revenues are finding Verio's Free VPS promotion the right fit for getting started as Hosting Reseller.

November 19, 2003 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- Cable & Wireless America (cw.com) says it signed over 800 new service orders from approximately 450 unique customers during the recently completed third quarter, a difficult period that saw the company working to sell its US operations amid rumors of bankruptcy.

According to C&W, the orders represent over $32 million in new revenue.

"We are very pleased with our partnership with all of our customers. The wins we have had over the last quarter reaffirm our approach to the US market and provide us with considerable momentum as we work towards our stated restructuring goals," said Clint Heiden, executive vice president of sales for Cable & Wireless America. "Our customers and prospects have been very receptive and have really backed us through the transition. As we emerge from the haziness of this period, we are very well positioned to increase our market share and build upon our success."

Cable & Wireless said in a press release that with the positive results of its sales and marketing initiatives, Cable & Wireless America has continued to exceed its month over month restructuring goals. The company said its remains ahead of target on data center consolidation, customer churn reduction, and cost controls.

In June, Cable & Wireless announced that it was exiting the Web hosting market in the US Since that time, Cable & Wireless has been seeking a buyer for its US Web hosting division, narrowing the field from six potential buyers down to two in September.

The direction of the company has been a question for some time. Earlier this month, a report circulated that C&W was on the verge of being sold and would potentially enter bankruptcy to shed underutilized office space. Shortly thereafter, the Times reported that discussions concerning the sale of C&W had abruptly collapsed.
