Carpathia Hosting Names Brian Winter VP and CMO

Prior to joining Carpathia, Winter served as Sun Microsystems' VP of global virtualization software sales, and as marketing VP of its Services business unit.

(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Enterprise managed hosting provider Carpathia Hosting (www.carpathiahosting.com) has appointed experienced sales and marketing executive Brian Winter to the Carpathia management team as vice president and chief marketing officer.

In his new role, Winter will be responsible for the company’s overall marketing strategy with a focus on growing awareness of the company, expanding its presence in the federal sector and maximizing the recent acquisition of ServerVault. He will report directly to Carpathia’s chief executive officer, Peter Weber.

“It is an exciting time to join the management team at Carpathia Hosting,” said Winter. “Strong, profitable, organic growth over the last five years, coupled with the recent acquisition of ServerVault, puts CarpathiaHosting in a strong industry position. I look forward to partnering with the rest of the Carpathia Hosting management team to build on our success and accelerate our growth.”

Winter has led global sales and marketing teams for Fortune 500 companies, and built successful sales and marketing teams for high-growth technology firms such as internet professional services provider USWeb, and outsourced IT provider SevenSpace, which was sold to Sun Microsystems (www.sun.com) for $49 million.

CEO Weber said Winter brings an extensive history of delivering results within the high-tech industry. “His addition to the team further reinforces our commitment to establishing ourselves as one of the leaders in the hosting industry,” said Weber. “Beyond his marketing expertise, Brian will be a key member of the Carpathia management team and will play an active role as we continue to build on our extraordinary growth.”

Prior to joining Carpathia, Winter served as Sun Microsystems’ VP of global virtualization software sales, and as marketing VP of its Services business unit. Winter’s responsibilities included the overall strategic direction and day-to-day management of the global services marketing organization including product marketing, go-to-market programs, field marketing and marketing communications for the $5 billion services division.
