(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Managed hosting services provider BurstNET Technologies (www.burst.net) has signed a contract with Zayo Bandwidth (www.zayo.com) for 10Gbps Wavelength transport service to its network, connecting its facility in Scranton, Pennsylvania to its points of presence in Philadelphia and New York City.
According to the company’s Wednesday announcement, BurstNET expects the network upgrade to go online in late May.
BurstNET began a complete network overhaul half a year ago, and once its network is connected using Zayo’s transport service, it will have expanded its overall network capacity eightfold in the course of six months.
BurstNET is planning additional capacity upgrades in 2009, including the opening of a New York City POP with connectivity to peering exchange NYIIX (www.nyiix.com).
