November 21, 2002 — (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — UK-based telecommunications giant BT (BT.com) announced on Thursday that it has launched its new network control center in Brussels, Belgium, as part of the company?s strategy for meeting the information, communication and technology requirements of corporate customers.
The new NCC, says BT, will centralize the management of the company?s extensive network, which covers 16 countries, connecting over 300 cities and towns with more than 57,000 km of fiber across Europe. BT says the facility?s launch demonstrates the company?s continuing investment in its network operations.
BT says the NCC in Brussels is key to the company?s strategy of extending its offering to European customers and global customers with European operations. With phase one complete, the pan-European network and in-country local networks can be managed centrally. The NCC provides a single point of visibility for the entire operation. Phase two, which is scheduled for completion over the coming months, will fully establish the Brussels center as the global network control center for BT Ignite, the company?s business services and solutions unit.
