June 12, 2002 — (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — nCipher (ncipher.com), a provider of IT cryptographic security, said yesterday that its nForce Hardware Security Modules (HSMs) had been chosen to help BT Ignite, BT’s business services and solutions business, roll out new credit card security services in Europe.
NCipher’s HSMs, in conjunction with software developed by Arcot Systems, will be used in Visa’s new Verified by Visa security program. The program is designed to reduce fraud and boost consumer confidence in shopping via the Internet, interactive television and mobile networks.
BT Ignite was chosen to deliver Verified by Visa services to European issuing banks, and the service went live in early May.
