July 14, 2008 — (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — UK telecommunications provider BT (bt.com) announced on Monday it has achieved Global Certification from Cisco (cisco.com), making it the fourth company to have earned Cisco’s Global Certification status.
The news follows last week’s BT acquisition of iomart Group’s Internet directory subsidiary Ufindus for £20 million.
To earn Global Certification, BT met the training requirements and program prerequisites to sell, deploy and support Cisco solutions worldwide. The certification recognizes Cisco partners with expertise and resources to plan, design, implement and operate Cisco networking solutions worldwide.
Gaining Global Certification status expands on BT’s existing base of multinational and individual country certifications in meeting the strict requirements in the areas of contracting, procurement, security and business continuity, while reflects the company’s focus on maintaining best practices across all areas of its business.
“This major achievement recognizes the growth of our capabilities with Cisco and is good news for our customers,” says Allen Ma, president of BT Asia Pacific. “Global certification allows us to deploy Cisco solutions to our customers wherever in the world they do business. BT is committed to delivering world class solutions to customers, and this accreditation further compliments BT’s market-leading global footprint.” Cisco also offers Select, Premier, Silver and Gold Certifications which recognize expertise within a single country. The Global Certification, on the other hand, recognizes partners who have extended this expertise across multiple geographic regions.
To earn Global Certification, a channel partner must show its abilities to provide contracting, procurement, security and business continuity services across all continental regions around the world. BT says it continues to expand its global capabilities to serve customers worldwide by providing the global connectivity to help multi-site organizations communicate and collaborate.
