BT Achieves Recognition for Security Capabilities

June 26, 2002 — (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — European telecommunications provider BT (BT.com) announced on Tuesday that it has achieved two independent third party endorsements for its managed security services.

The company says BT Ignite (BTIgnite.com), its business services and solutions division, received approval from tScheme, a self-regulatory industry-led scheme for the assessment of electronic transaction security services. The company also attained the widely recognized BS7799 security standard for the delivery of trust services from its flagship data center in Cardiff.

BT Ignite achieved tScheme approval for both its Server Certificate and Onsite services, having been assessed against the highest industry standards. BT says users can be confident the services are provided in accordance with the most stringent guidelines.

BS7799, says BT, provides a framework for organizations to evaluate risk and implement appropriate controls for all areas of security management. Achieving the accreditation means BT Ignite can manage security at its data centers to an internationally recognized standard.
