(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Shortly after unveiling “Strobe,” a new software framework that simplifies the delivery of custom media players for content owners, software developer Adobe (www.adobe.com) and online video platform provider Brightcove (www.brightcove.com) have expanded a strategic alliance to deliver enhanced online video solutions to Brightcove customers.
According to Brightcove’s Monday announcement at the 2009 NAB Show, its collaboration with Adobe will enhance the quality of its users’ online video experiences, help develop Adobe Flash media content protection, and facilitate desktop integration to streamline online video workflows. The companies also intend to work together to offer interoperability between Adobe’s open media player framework Strobe and the Brightcove online video platform.
“Brightcove is the online video platform for hundreds of major media companies in 27 countries, each with unique market demands and increasingly complex requirements around quality and security,” Brightcove chief executive officer Jeremy Allaire said in a statement.
“Extending our collaboration with Adobe provides these media companies with unparalleled choice and control over video experiences and distribution on the web. Together, Adobe and Brightcove will deliver a truly unique value proposition to the online video market.”
Adobe and Brightcove plan to help premium content publishers take full advantage of Adobe Flash Media Streaming Server 3.5′s dynamic streaming, encryption, and H.264 delivery capabilities to deliver up to HD-quality video experiences through the Brightcove platform.
Content delivery network CDNetworks (www.cdnetworks.com) also announced Monday that it has commercially deployed Adobe’s FMS 3.5 software, helping it deliver multi-bitrate Flash content live and on-demand, using Adobe’s Dynamic Streaming technology. It has already deployed FMS 3.5 on popular children’s website MrsP.com (www.mrsp.com).
