Bluemile Buys Web Host Fivebean Media, Names Ryan Troy Director of Cloud Computing

(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Voice, cloud and data center services provider Bluemile (www.bluemilecloud.com) has acquired Fivebean Media (www.fivebean.net), a Web host based in Grand Rapids, Michigan, giving Fivebean hosting customers the backing of Bluemile’s powerful cloud hosting infrastructure.

As a result of the acquisition announced this week, Fivebean founder Ryan Troy will be serving as director of cloud compute at Bluemile. Troy has more than 12 years of Unix System Administration experience, working in diverse industries that range from Web hosting and service providing to cloud infrastructure engineering. His knowledge and passion about virtualization technologies led him to co-author O’Reilly Media’s VMware Cookbook.

“This merger allows Fivebean customers access to Bluemile’s industry leading cloud hosting infrastructure which offers a high performance compute platform, 24×7 expert technical support and the scalability to meet future client hosting needs,” Troy said in a statement.”

As well as being a virtualization expert, Troy founded the now-official Ubuntu Linux Forums in October 2004, and now serves as technical administrator and chairman of the Ubuntu Forum Council. He also co-authored Ubuntu Unleashed 2010 5th Edition and has written articles for Linux Identity magazine and co-authored articles for Linux+ magazine.

Founded in 2003 in Columbus, Ohio, Bluemile specializes in products and services designed for the world’s top enterprises and services providers. Bluemile features a Cisco-powered optical and IP national network, and a Sonus-powered voice network.

Bluemile recently lauched its bCloud product, which is a highly redundant vBlock hosting platform that consists of Cisco UCS blades running VMware, and featuring EMC CLARiiON CX4 model 960 and NetApp storage, and Cisco 7609 and Nexus 7k switches and routers.
