March 18, 2004 — (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Broadwing Communications (broadwing.com) announced on Thursday that it will begin providing its disaster recovery tool to the Blue Cross Blue Shield Member Plans.
Broadwing’s disaster recovery tool, MultiConnect ReDirect, allows Blue Cross Blue Shield Plans to add a secondary, back-up host location to a Plan’s hub-and-spoke MultiConnect network. If the disaster recovery plan is activated, company officials will notify Broadwing’s Enterprise Management Center, and a Broadwing technician will switch the host connection from the primary to the secondary location.
Broadwing has been offering its data and voice services to each of Blue Cross and Blue Shield’s 41 independent Member Plans in the US since 2002.
