August 9, 2005 – (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Blog traffic continues to surge, according to a report published on Tuesday by by Comscore Networks (comscore.com).
The report found that in the first quarter of the year, approximately 50 million Americans visited a blog. This represented an increase of 45 percent over the same period last year.
Comscore Networks found that five blog hosting services had more than one million unique visitors in the first quarter of the year.
The report also profiled the typical blog reader, who is more likely to live in a healthy household, more inclined to shop online, younger, and logs on to the Internet from a high-speed connection.
Political blogs were the most popular category, the report said.
