(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Data center server provider Blade Network Technologies (www.bladenetwork.net) announced on Thursday it has opened a new sales and support office in the United Arab Emirates to serve customers throughout the Middle East and Africa.
Blade’s Kamran Siddiqui will serve as territory manager, while Al Sayegh Brothers Trading, a full service institution that offers complete brand management solutions, has been named the master distributor in the UAE for Blade’s RackSwitch family of data center switches.
“We are pleased to expand our worldwide presence with our new sales and support office in the UAE, one of the world’s leading centers of commerce,” says Charles Ferland, vice president of EMEA at Blade Network Technologies. “Customers across the Middle East and Africa are deploying our RackSwitch products to meet their growing data center networking requirements; this new regional presence demonstrates our commitment to the region.”
As one of the top three providers of 10 Gigabit Ethernet switches, according to Dell’Oro Group’s Q209 Ethernet Switch Quarterly Report, Blade is on pace to deliver another year of strong growth.
The company recently had its best ever quarterly revenues, profits and market share for Q3 2009.
Meanwhile, the server market continues to see heavy competition. Currently, Blade leads Cisco in market share of Ethernet switches for blade servers, which can largely be attributed to its partnerships with HP, IBM, NEC and Verari Systems.
Earlier this week, Cisco Systems announced its own partnership with EMC and VMware, forming the Virtual Computing Environment Coalition, which will help organizations simplify and accelerate virtualization and move over to private cloud infrastructures.
A day later, Hewlett-Packard announced the launch of its HP Converged Infrastructure Architecture and a set of related services and partner offerings that create a virtualized, on-demand data center.
Blade Network Technologies recently committed its support for IBM and Intel Corporation initiative to drive adoption of a pen industry specification for blade switches that would allow switch vendors to make products to a standardized design for blade switches.
Wesgreen International School in Sharjah, UAE, recently began evaluating Blade RackSwitch Gigabit/10 Gigabit solutions.
In addition to its Santa Clara, California headquarters, Blade also operates a Blade Network Research development subsidiary in Ottawa, Canada and BLADE Network K.K. subsidiary in Japan and sales and support operations in Europe, the Middle East and Africa , Asia Pacific, China and Korea.
