BizLand Acquires Invite Shared Hosting Business

June 11, 2002 — (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Denver-based Web hosting firm Invite Internet (Invite.net) announced on Tuesday that it has organized the sale of its shared Web hosting business to Burlington, Massachusetts-based provider of online resources for small business, and private-label Web site vendor, BizLand, Inc. (BizLand.com).

Invite did not disclose the terms of the agreement.

According to Invite, the company will focus on the private sector and the dedicated server markets following the sale, which includes only the shared-server small business Web hosting unit of Invite Internet.

With over 100,000 small business members, BizLand offers a complete array of Web-based services from Web hosting to e-commerce storefronts, online promotional tools.

“The sale of our shared-server client base allows us to streamline our business model,” says Invite Internet president and founder Rainey Schuyler. “Invite is now focused on Private and Dedicated Server solutions. The timing of this deal coincides perfectly with the recent deployment of our Instant Private Server product line.”

Invite says the response to its Instant Private Server technology has far exceeded its expectations, allowing the company to release its sought after shared server client base to one of its competitors.
