Big Rock Moves to Peak 10 Data Canter

October 1, 2003 — (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — North Carolina-based Peak 10, Inc. (peak10.com) said today that Big Rock Sports, a fishing tackle supply company, has moved its operations into Peak 10?s data center facility in Raleigh, North Carolina. Under the terms of the agreement, Peak 10 will host, manage and monitor all of Big Rock?s distributor and e-commerce sites.

The company said Big Rock?s decision to move from its data center in Newport, North Carolina was predicated on fears that Hurricane Isabel would hit the Carolina coast and threaten its business.

“We viewed Hurricane Isabel as a severe threat because even a few hours of down time or loss of data would be devastating to our customers and potentially disastrous for our business,” said Norm Pollock, vice-president of information technology for Big Rock Sports. “Peak 10 not only provided a first class facility and business continuity methodology but also the technical expertise and manpower necessary to move our data center quickly.”

Peak 10 migrated Big Rock’s IT operations to its facilities and had them up and running before the hurricane hit, the company reported.
