March 6, 2003 — (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Application infrastructure software company BEA Systems (BEA.com) and data center automation solution provider Opsware Inc. (Opsware.com) announced this week that they have signed a partnership agreement designed to help customers simplify the process and lower the cost of managing their data center environments by automating server and application operations.
The companies will work together with Fortune 1000 companies to improve the deployment and management of applications using Opsware’s data center automation software and BEA’s application server BEA WebLogic Server. According to the companies, an enterprise using the Opsware system can automate the operation of multi-tier applications and lower costs associated with the application server tier.
As part of the agreement, BEA has chosen the Opsware system as a preferred solution for automated deployment, provisioning, configuration and change management of BEA WebLogic Server. Opsware has chosen BEA’s WebLogic Server as the underlying application server for the Opsware system.
