BEA and Logica's Alliance to Offer Customized E-Biz Solutions

August 20, 2001 — (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — BEA Systems, Inc. (bea.com), one of the world’s leadinge-business infrastructure software companies, and Logica (logica.com), a global IT solutions company, today announced a new strategic alliance under which Logica will offer its customers full access to customized software solutions built on the BEA WebLogic E-Business Platform.

The agreement, which formalizes a long relationship between the twocompanies, also provides Logica with training and support on the full rangeof BEA products.

Logica has been using BEA software as the basis of many technology solutionsfor its clients for a number of years. For instance, the BEA WebLogicE-Business Platform, a single solution for enterprise and e-businessapplications that require commerce, portal, integration and Web Services,resides at the core of an operational support system that Logica hasdeveloped for large telecommunications companies.

British Telecom is one client using a multi-product operational supportsystem, built using BEA technology to enable its Ignite Content Hosting.This ASP platform enables the integration of applications to manage, selland provide a variety of content hosting services to BT’s customer-basethrough an extensive network of Internet data centers across Europe.

Logica is also embedding BEA WebLogic into two new solutions designed forthe financial services industry. The first, called Continuous LinkedSettlement, is a new system designed to reduce the commercial risk to bothcustomers and banks in foreign exchange trade settlements. The second is apayments product that plays a critical role in banking businesses’infrastructure by optimizing liquidity on trade settlements, both internallyand externally.
