(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Data center operator Baronyx (www.baryonyxcorp.com) announced on Friday it plans to build a 28,000-square-foot data center in Stratford, Texas that will be powered by wind turbines.
Last month, the company won three land lease bids from the State of Texas to construct wind farm-powered data centers, as well as other forms of energy that operate with zero carbon dioxide emissions.
The wind turbines will be comprised of two offshore turbines of more than 19,000 acres each, and 8,000 acres of onshore turbines.
The company says that the data center will be initially be powered by 150 onshore wind turbines near the data center, located in the Texas panhandle. Each turbine will be able to produce 3.3 to 6MW of power.
Over time, the data center will add more machines, which will require more power. The company will then add 450 additional offshore turbines in the Gulf of Mexico to generate significantly more power.
When these farms are fully functional, Baronyx will supply power to the Texas General Land Office, and in turn, they will sell the electricity to cities, schools, and prisons.
These profits will be allocated to the Texas Permanent School Fund, a state-run organization that funds public schools through a means other than taxes.
Baronyx is an start-up company that specializes to innovative energy solutions, primarily in wind power.
