November 8, 2002 — (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Web site performance acceleration solution provider Redline Networks (RedlineNetworks.com) announced on Friday that French retailer Auchan has implemented Redline?s Web I/O Acceleration at its online commerce site.
Auchan launched its online shopping site in March 2001, offering books worldwide and groceries in the Paris region. The site?s success resulted in a flood of visitors, says Redline, and Auchan began to search for a solution that would guarantee a higher performance and better security for the site.
The company picked Redline?s acceleration equipment, largely because of its ability to speed SSL traffic as efficiently as clear traffic. After implementing the Redline solution, Auchan?s bandwidth usage has dropped by about 50 percent, and the site has been delivered to end users about twice as fast.
Redline says the reduced load on the servers means that Auchan?s three-tier architecture, including server, application servers and database servers, can now handle more traffic.
