AT&T to Host FirstGov.gov

August 21, 2002 — (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Communications company AT&T (ATT.com) announced on Tuesday that the US General Services Administration (GSA) has awarded the company a contract to provide Web hosting and security services for the Federal Government Web portal FirstGov.gov (firstgov.gov).

AT&T?s role in the project was expanded earlier this year, when the GSA chose AT&T to provide search capabilities for the site. AT&T worked as a systems integrator to provide an outsourced, hosted solution, delivering a search engine and capable of delivering relevant results from content that can change daily. The search engine service, says AT&T, was in addition to the initial coding and deployment of the FirstGov.gov site in September of 2000.
