August 24, 2004 — (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Technology firm AT&T (att.com) and game developer Blizzard Entertainment announced on Tuesday that they will create create a secure hosting solution for the launch of Blizzard’s “massively multiplayer” online role-playing game, World of Warcraft.
Through the agreement terms, AT&T will provide enhanced storage space and bandwidth capabilities for Blizzard’s entertainment software applications, making its online presence more dependable and scalable.
AT&T’s load balancing capabilities will enable seamless access to all of the interactive features found in Blizzard’s virtual world. AT&T will provide these hosting services through its Internet data centers in Los Angeles and Redwood City, California, and Ashburn, Virginia.
As the current host of Blizzard’s North American beta test for World of Warcraft, says AT&T, expands on its current services for Blizzard Entertainment’s Battle.net. World of Warcraft has already pulled in more than 400,000 players for its expected international release later this year.
