Asia Global Crossing and China Netcom Offer Telecom Services

October 1, 2001 — (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Asia Global Crossing (asiaglobalcrossing.com) has announced that it has signed an agreement with China Netcom Corporation (cnc.net.cn) whereby CNC will purchase four 2.5 Gigabits per second wavelengths from Asia Global Crossing connecting Hong Kong and Los Angeles, Calif., so that CNC can bolster its international infrastructure, serve enterprises in China, and prepare for the surge of traffic expected as China gains entry to the WTO and prepares for the 2008 Olympics in Beijing.

In a separate transaction, Asia Global Crossing and CNC have agreed to termsfor an arrangement which will allow Asia Global Crossing to interconnect 2.5Gbps of capacity with CNC’s domestic network – CNCNet. This will enableAsia Global Crossing to connect its customers to the major business centersof China, ensuring that its full suite of data services, includingInternational Private Line Circuits and IP Transit, as well as last-mileprovisioning, will be available to Asia Global Crossing customers that needaccess to Beijing, Shanghai, and Guangzhou.
