AppLogic Powers CariNet Virtual Data Center

(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Powered by the 3Tera’s (www.3tera.com) AppLogic cloud computing platform, data center operator and hosting services provider CariNet (www.cari.net) has launched its new Virtual Private Datacenter (or VPD) line of services, adding the scalability, reliability and cost effectiveness of grid technology to CariNet’s suite of hosting solutions.

According to 3Tera’s Monday announcement, CariNet’s VPD eliminates the need for colocation, private racks and managed services for companies wanting to host their business infrastructure, software-as-a-service, virtual worlds and other online applications.

“As an Internet-based services company, we strive to ensure we’re utilizing the latest technologies for manageability, high availability, and scalability to remain competitive and meet our rapidly growing customer demand,” CariNet president Mark Ortenzi said in a statement. “The AppLogic platform enables CariNet to cut application development time, lower server and administration costs, improve service reliability via its high-availability architecture, as well as improve the performance and growth potential of the CariNet network.”

3Tera sales, marketing and product management senior vice president Bert Armijo said his company is impressed with CariNet’s dedication to driving customer success and ability to build new technologies. “It is exciting to see new hosting partners embracing AppLogic to offer Virtual Private Datacenters to fundamentally change the way people build and operate Internet-scale infrastructure,” Armijo said in a statement.

CariNet, however, is not the only hosting company to use the AppLogic cloud computing platform. For instance, in February, Canadian web host Right Servers (www.rightservers.com) launched a new grid-based hosting service built on 3Tera’s AppLogic cloud computing platform, enabling new services including grid-based virtual private servers and shared hosting with automatic failover.
