(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Hosting solutions provider Applied Innovations (www.appliedi.net) has partnered with Microsoft (www.microsoft.com) to deploy 500 Hyper-V-based managed virtual private servers to provide enterprise-grade hosting at no cost for one year to small businesses in Microsoft’s WebsiteSpark Program.
A Microsoft Gold Certified Windows hosting provider, Applied Innovations was one of the first participants in the Microsoft WebsiteSpark Program, designed to help web professionals from designers and developers to small business owners, and drive new business opportunities through connections with partners and customers around the world. WebsiteSpark also provides Web Professionals with free Microsoft software and solutions, as well as support and training opportunities.
According to its Friday announcement, As part of the deployment for Microsoft, Applied Innovations has not only completed one of the largest-ever single client infrastructure build-outs in its more than 10-year history, but also deployed one of the largest all-Dell hardware based deployments on Hyper-V to date.
“Applied Innovation is one of our key hosting partners for the WebsiteSpark Program and has a strong ongoing relationship with Microsoft, based on a shared commitment to innovation, quality and affordability,” Microsoft developer and platform evangelism general manager Mark Hindsbo said in a statement. “Their usage of Hyper-V to dramatically improve value and reduce cost for their customers hosting on the Microsoft Web Platform is a great example of this partnership.”
Applied Innovations created the Hyper-V cluster exclusively with Dell hardware, including robust server configurations and a fully redundant, high-performance Storage Area Network. Using virtualization technologies, Applied Innovations was able to create a solution that comes at a quarter of the cost of a traditional dedicated server.

After the first year, participants are able to renew their hosting through Applied Innovations at a specially discounted rate. Each WebsiteSpark VPS comes fully managed and monitored by Applied Innovations, and includes a variety of other key features already available to existing customers of the company. Additionally, each WebsiteSpark VPS includes failover protection – virtually eliminating the possibility of website downtime in the event of a hardware failure or required system upgrade.
