(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Web hosting provider Aplus.net (www.aplus.net) announced on Monday that it had introduced a set of new managed hosting services it intends to “address the growing cost and complexity of server management.”

The company, which specializes in providing a variety of hosting services for small and medium-sized businesses, says its new managed hosting services support a range of tasks, and provides expert guidance on managed firewalls, load balancing and other custom services.

Aplus has made a nine-page white paper available for download from its website in PDF format. The document makes the case for managed services, describing the advantages of what it describes as “semi- and fully-managed hosting plans.”

“Increasingly, the challenge for many businesses today is: can you still afford to manage your own servers for hosting and email?” says Alex Yevelev, senior vice president of sales and marketing at Aplus, quoted in the press release. ”There are more security threats than ever and hundreds, even thousands, of software and server patches required every year. Faced with potential email outages, data loss and other risks to your web presence, managed services offer one avenue of protection.”

According to Aplus, managed services will be available on any dedicated server hosted with the company. The services are available in three packages, starting at $29.95 per month, described in the managed services section of the company’s site. Additional services are available a la carte.

The managed services, the associated white paper and the user-friendly nature of the whole package relate to the company’s efforts to establish itself as a complete resource for small businesses, highlighted by the introduction, in December, of the company’s cartoon mascot, Jeff.
