April 01, 2005 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW)  -- Apache continues to dominate the Web server market, adding market share while Microsoft and Sun lost ground, according to research and analysis firm Netcraft's (netcraft.com) monthly Web server survey.

 

Apache's market share rose from 69.19 to 69.32 percent, while Microsoft lost .10 percentage points, dipping from 20.55 to 20.45. Sun and Zeus lost .02 and .08 percent market share respectively.

 

Netcraft's monthly Web server survey measures Web server software usage on all Internet connected computers. The April 2005 survey received responses from 62,286,451 sites, a gain of 1.7 million hostnames over last month. The increase was by far the largest of any month this year.
